HANABI shells explode in the sky with a magnificent and sudden expanse of color. There is no way for a spectator to judge the size and weight of each shell.
So here are some explanations of the individual shells.

Name
Traditionally, we have used special names for each shell such as g
3zunhand g4sunh, but recently we have used the more popular names such as g3gouh,g4gouh,
etc. 10gou is about 12inchs in diameter, but the shell explodes to a
diameter of 300 meters. To insure safety for the spectators, this size shell would require a safety zone of 250 meters separation from
the shooting area to the crowd of people. If anything should happen,
such as a low breaking shell or ground detonation, the audience would
be safe.
Diameter of HANABI shells
HANABI shells vary in diameter and are shown in the upper table. 3gou is about 8.6cm, 5gou is about 14.2cm.
This means that 3gou is approximately the size of an apple, 5gou is similar to a cantaloupe melon
, and 10gou is about the size of a watermelon.
We also make odd or unusual sizes such as 3.5gou and 15gou as seen be
side the table. You can see that we also have very large shells such as 40gou on the upper table.
These big shells are very difficult to build and very few shell manufacturers can make large shells
that work properly. Shells up to 10gou are easy to build and are common, but it is only a handful of expert shell builders that can make 30 and
40gou shells.
What do shells weighH
Most HANABI shells are completely filled with powder so they are heavy, especially the gWARIMONOh. But the "POKAMONO"
shells are made of several smaller shells or effects inside and are lighter because they are not filled solid. Shells weigh from 0.12kg to 420
kg. These large shells weigh as much as a small car.
Explosion Hight
HANABI Shells can go very high. A 10gou Shell climbs to 330,
the same height as the Tokyo Tower. The largest Shells are 400kg and use 30kg of lift powder.
Explosion diameter
You might not believe this, but a 3gou shell makes a flower burst tha
t is 70meters in diameter when it explodes in the sky. 5gou is about
180meters across, much like a stadium, and 20gou is 500meters across
. You cannot even imagine how big a 40gou shell would be in the sky,
but this is Japanese HANABI and we are famous for making big flowers
in the sky. Can you imagine the sky filled with one large burst of
color being replaced instantly by another? and this happens with one
shell after another, after another, after another........
